Wild Nature in the Back Yard

A couple weeks ago New Jersey was hit with yet another late winter snow storm which blanketed the area with a few inches of snow. As I looked out the window to see how much had fallen something out of the corner of my eye caught my attention. In the pure white a large hawk was on the ground near the back of the yard. The size of this bird of prey was next to impossible to miss especially with his brown color on the white snow. It seems he or she was hunting and successful. Nature is pretty cool even if it’s sometimes graphic.

Oh! If anyone knows what kind of hawk this is help me! I’m terrible at bird of prey identification. Based on its size I’m guessing a Red Tailed Hawk but I’ll gladly accept the education if I’m wrong so please let me know if that’s the case.
