Wedding website is Live and wedding day foods.
|It’s been some time since I posted. Most of the action is taking place at StaceyMichaelWedding.com now as wedding planning is ongoing.
A couple weeks ago Stacey had arranged a tasting appointment for us and family. So together with her parents, sister and my mom we headed off to our appointment. We already had a good idea of the foods that would be made available to use for the reception when we decided to have our wedding at The English Manor. We had a choice of cocktails, salads and entrees and the purpose of this meeting was to dial in exactly what we’d make available.
We arrived and were greeted by Kristi who has been our contact at The English Manor. She quickly had us seated. She provided us a little cheat sheet to keep track of the food she would be serving during the tasting and before you knew it our first cocktail foods were in front of us.
The first course was a seafood platter that contained a traditional shrimp cocktail, a coconut shrimp in a raspberry sauce and a Lobster Sacchettini. The Sacchettini was a bit of lobster and cheese in a noodle. The noodle is often called a “purse pouch” because it kinda looks like one while it holds the filling in and is often dashed with a tomato sauce rich in flavor on top as this one was. All three of these were a huge hit. So delicious.
Up next was another round of cocktail foods. This time a giant plate with lots of variety. We had a Grilled Cheese with Apple and Brie, Chicken and Chorizo Tortilla Chips, Sweet Potato Puffs, Buffalo Chicken Spring Rolls, Maryland Crab Cakes and Franks in a Pastry.
For me personally the grilled cheese, tortilla chips, buffalo spring rolls and franks in a pastry were my go to choices. Stacey loved the same along with the sweet potato puffs and the crab cakes. Without giving too much away and leaving some surprise for the wedding day all I’ll say is that some of these items made it to our list and some didn’t. All together we’ll have 10 different plates being served and you’ll get your fill we promise you that.
At this point we were all getting pretty full to be honest. We were not expecting what was about to happen next. Kristi arrives with the entree choices. I thought we were going to have just a plate similar to the hors d’oeuvres but what arrived blew us away. It was a full entree with a couple of their signature dishes. On one half of the plate was Chicken Isabella. This dish was a chicken breast with sautéed spinach, red papers and mozzarella in a gravy sauce. The plate was separated by sautéed asparagus and a duchess potato. The other half of the plate a full piece of filet mignon in a mushroom sauce. And as if this wasn’t enough the salmon plate arrived providing us a seafood option. We had our fill and again from this we have a pretty clear picture of what our food offerings are going to be.
The night was wrapped up with what all dinners should finish with… a small serving for the sweet tooth. Presented was a plate of mini ice cream cones with vanilla and chocolate flavor, on wafer cones and sprinkles inverted on a plate. The presentation was pretty visually striking and tasted great and to us… the perfect way to end our tasting. ENJOY!!!
